February 11, 2009 TASL MEETING MINUTES The regularly scheduled TASL meeting was held on February 11, 2009 with the following in attendance: Dorothy Morgan, Dave Dearborn, Teresa Phillips, Nan Beck, Milt Cummings (SSC), Dan Eaker and Jarvis Lynch (CUSC), Barb Kester and Mike Davis (CSL), Tyge Gibson (AYSO), Mike Williams (CUSA), Brian Francazio (NYSL), Jimmy Holland (PSC), Richard Brooks, Stacy Pauley, Jill Wentzel, and Don Luzzatto (SYAA). President Dorothy Morgan called the meeting to order at 8:37pm. She asked for a motion to approve the minutes. Barb Kester made the motion and Dave Dearborn seconded it. The motion carried. Ray Franklin, Treasurer was unable to attend the meeting due to illness. Dorothy stated Ray would email the financials when he could and they would be reviewed at the March meeting. Dorothy stated that the upcoming dates and deadlines have been posted on the TASL website. However, several corrections will be made. Dorothy stated that the updated information on the fall fee structure will be given as soon as she and Dave Dearborn, VP receives the financials from Ray and that more discussion on this will be on the agenda for the March meeting. She instructed all Club Reps let their clubs know that fall fees will increase due to the increase in referee fees. Unfinished Business: Dorothy asked for any unfinished business. There was none. New Business: : Dorothy asked for new business and the following was introduced: -Dave stated that Norfolk United Soccer Club (NUSC) will be entertaining offers for referee quotes to replace their current referee assignor contract. Dave also stated that NUSC has a Travel team that wanted to join TASL but it has too many Travel players on it to qualify to play in TASL. Therefore, he has advised the coach he would have to split the players so they can play on TASL teams already in the league. The players are from the Norfolk-Chesapeake area so he asked to be contacted if these area clubs need U15B-U16B players. -Teresa Phillips, TASL Administrator asked members to send emails to her home address in place of her work address. -Teresa reminder everybody that she needs field declarations from each club. -The following announcements were made: Dave announced that Maury High School is sponsoring a preseason tournament event for some top high schools in the areas including Kellam and Hickory High Schools. They plan to have free admission on Friday night for all area club soccer teams who wear their team jersey to the game. Teresa Phillips, TASL Administrator announced that Paul Shaw will be offering a "F" Module for Recreational coaches on February 15th at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex. It will focus on coaching U6-U8 and U8-U10. More information can be found on the VYSA website. A "D" Course will be offered by Beach FC in July. Barb Kester announced that Churchland Soccer League will have a course for referees on February 22nd, March 1st, and March 2nd. Email Mike Davis for additional information. Jimmy Holland announced that Portsmouth Soccer Club is partnering with 3D Soccer to offer a soccer tournament on August 22nd -23rd. Recreational and Travel teams will be invited to register. More information will be sent out soon. The Chesapeake Icebreaker will be held on March 7th-8th. With no more new business, Dorothy asked for a motion to adjourn.
